At the top of the funnel, no one knows who you are — sure, maybe your mom and a few potential customers know you, but the point of this stage is to get your name out there. You want to create buzz around your product or simply credibility around your brand. This is where you want to spend some time thinking about your personal brand. I’m using both Leadpages and Clickfunnels. I really like click funnel because I can create the entire funnel including one time offers and the really nice order form. One thing I’m really struggling with is that there membership function is so basic it’s almost unusable for me, and there’s no way to integrate with a more sophisticated membership site plug-in or system.

If they determine you’re right for their needs, they proceed to the next stage, and considered an opportunity.

The number and name of each stage may vary based on business type and sales process. But what the sales funnel represents is straightforward. You start with a lot of prospects who know your business. Sales reps qualify those prospects, and out of those, only some will proceed to the next stage to have a conversation with you. As sales reps continue to nurture leads towards the close, they trickle down the funnel until you’re left with actual customers.
Depending on your business and industry, you could have 1,000 prospects at the top of your funnel. However, towards the end of your funnel, you may have 25 prospects. While these 25 prospects are more likely to convert than the ones at the top of the sales funnel, at the very end, there may only be five customers who’ve made a purchase and only two that are repeat customers.
For instance, you may be in a local business or you might be trying to do SEO or something like that. I have a local lead generation business where I build local websites for limo services and plastic surgeons and moving companies, garage door repair, you name it, and they act as great websites for those folks as well. So, I can give you a head start, but I wanted to show you kind of an opt-in funnel that I've been building for one of my author clients. She's an author. She's super smart, super successful, but she's always had the majority of her business offline and she's wanted to move her sales funnel online and specifically she wanted to use ClickFunnels. So, she signed up for ClickFunnels under my account, but then she also said, "Hey Josh, I need you to go ahead and help me build this, since this is kind of a must first crack at online distribution and sales."
However, getting to this stage is no simple feat. It takes an enormous amount of work and effort plus tracking. By implementing sales funnel software, such as the platform built by Brunson, you can definitely cut down the headache, but there's still lots of work to be done. Copy needs to be written, tracking pixels need to be installed and email sequences need to be created. But that's what it takes to succeed.
On functionality, it was a dead heat. I sent an equal amount of paid traffic to each funnel and they both produced many leads. Not an equal amount of leads. But, there are so many variables at play that I cannot say the software was the deciding factor. In the end, this was a fun experiment that fixed my funnel problem and I learned a lot in the process.

A sales funnel illustrates your customer’s journey and works by increasing the level of engagement and trust in each interaction with your prospect. Of course, I shouldn’t be editing the live version of the site. But, editing an off-line version and making the switchover is something I find tricky. My strategy when something like this happened was twofold. First, I would post on WordPress forums asking for help. And while I awaited an answer from the community, I would begin a painful trial and error process.


Become an authority in your industry and/or region. If you're known far and wide for being an industry expert, you'll have prospects seeking you out rather than the other way around. Consider planning lunch and learn sessions or organizing webinars on a regular basis. As your brand recognition grows, you may even attract inbound links to your site which will benefit your SEO.

1. What is the goal? In an ideal world, what would visitors do upon reaching your landing page? Would they buy something? Fill out a form? Sign up for a newsletter? Download an ebook? Toss aside their keyboard, break out a harmonica, and play a sweet blues rift? The first step for any strategy is determining goals. (You have to define conversions before you can track conversions.)

The downside to landing pages is that they can get overwhelming with a lot of content, and can come across as spammy if not well-designed.

The arrow in front of the subheadline helps further direct your attention to important copy they want visitors to read. Like IMPACT, they also have an auto-checked box to subscribe to their newsletter on their form -- which, if turned into an opt-in check box, is a great way to increase subscribers. All of these small, seemingly insignificant details help bring together a solid, admirable landing page design.
Remove unnecessary words — Every word existing on your page must be necessary. If you can remove a word without it reducing how enticing, clear, or useful a sentence is, remove it. (Excess verbiage increases the visitor's labor, which triggers their impulse to skim.) A tip: avoid clichés like revolutionary, incredibly powerful, best-ever, and so on. Other products claim these qualities, so visitors are blind to them. It's better to specifically describe how you're different.
Hello – at first looking at the Imbound plugins for landing pages – call-to-action -and Imbound forms- I thought “what a great system plugin for WordPress. However – after creating a landing page and then tring to utilize the call to action by placing the shortcode in the landing page – it does not show up.These are the most important function of them all! So then I created an Imbound form instead for Email and although it seems to work – I find out later when testing it does not send out any email when tested. I wondered why I did not get any responses – not even one! Not to my notification email or to the one who subscribes. Unfortunately I jumped the gun and advertised the landing page, and now I do not know whether I have gotten any responses or not. I tried to get support earlier on when attempting to use these plugins because the help videos just disappeared after navigating away one time. I cannot find any directions or videos – nor can I get any support response. So it seems to be a good idea gone bad to me. Mistakes and malfunctions can and do happen with a lot of plugins, but the worst thing in the world is not getting any support what-so-ever! So I suppose there is not a lot of “going Premium” with these plugins.

You’re going to get Click Funnels for free for 6 months or 12 months as per your subscription. Thus, a year from now, you’re going to get an email that states “What level would you like to be on? Clickfunnels offers two plans i.e. $97/month, and $297/month plan. You simply go ahead and let the support team know what plan makes the most sense for you at that point. You don’t have to make the decision right now. You can just make your mind up at that point. Use funnel hacks to create an insane amount of funnels. In fact, make it a goal to generate as much money as you can this current year, and that way, when the re-bill comes through it won’t even make a difference.
If you do an interview or guest post, you can send people directly to your landing page. It doesn’t help you as much to send people to your blog or website’s homepage. People sent directly to your homepage have too many options, may not find what they’re interested in, and more often than not, will leave. So, if you’re doing a podcast interview or guest post, it would be better to send people to a landing page where they can opt-in. Once you have someone’s email address, you’re able to communicate and build a relationship with them. It’s much different than if they simply visited your blog once, two weeks ago. You catch my drift?
It’s super refreshing to see a platform with some new pages, kind of reminds me of Unbounce. As you can see in the image above, their range of page designs are quite vast (this is only for Opt Ins) and can be used in a number of ways. While they may not look as sexy as LeadPages landing pages right off the bat, at the end of the day all that matters is the conversion rates.
There are email warming sequences that include things like personalized value-driven stories, tutorials and even soft pushes to webinars, and of course product suggestions that happen over days or even weeks. The truth is that most prospects won't buy from your website at first glance, especially if they're only just becoming aware of you today. It takes time. Thus, the funnel is a multi-modality process, as there are a variety of relationship-building experiences and "touches" that occur through several stages.
