Creating effective landing pages isn’t a one-size-fits-all project. What works for one site might not work so well for another. Finding the most effective page design is a matter of trial and error in a lot of cases. It’s important to test the different versions of your landing page to find the one that works the best for your particular situation. Without doing so, you might be leaving a lot of potential conversions on the table.
You could create a much simpler one, like say an email opt-in page (perfect if you just want to build an email list in exchange for something like a free downloadable checklist) in a couple days. But I decided to get ambitious and try selling a health supplement product right off the bat. That ended up being quite the endeavor as I hired someone to create a Facebook ad campaign for me to actually drive traffic TO the funnel. Ah yes, this is a very important part of what happens AFTER your funnel is complete. But you’ll get there.
Match the corresponding ad text. Great landing pages use the same keywords from the PPC ad text – the connection should be obvious and the continuity reassures visitors that they’re on the right path. Don’t send someone to a page about camping tents if your ad was about sleeping bags. And don’t send them to a generic page and make them search for the product they were looking for.

“Now, for the vinegar. Starting with the headline, if creating headlines was a waste of time, why do I need this product at all? And why write headlines at all in the first place?  Do their customers really say to themselves (in their owns heads), ‘this is a waste of time?’ Probably not. They say something more like ‘I don’t want to do this,’ ‘I suck at this,’ or ‘I hate writing.’ Big difference. They attempted to call out a problem, but in this case there’s a big disconnect and it’s negative for no real reason. Instead, if they want to call out a problem, they need to pick one that the market connects to.
Trulia did something very similar to Bills.com with their landing page. It starts with a simple form asking for "an address" (which sounds less creepy than "your address," although that's what they mean). Below this simple form field is a bright orange button that contrasts well with the hero image behind the form, and emphasizes that the estimate will be personalized to your home.
A sales funnel illustrates your customer’s journey and works by increasing the level of engagement and trust in each interaction with your prospect. It typically contains six stages, starting with awareness and ending with loyal customers. Each stage has more meaningful activities than the last. While not all prospects will reach the end of the funnel, those who do are actively engaged and therefore more serious about buying your product or service.

While it’s nearly impossible to retain every prospect who enters your funnel, it’s however important for your sales team to make efforts to retain the ones who are ready to buy.

The more contextually related your page headlines are to the calls-to-action people clicked on, the more likely those prospects are to make the connection that your landing page is for them. A great way to ensure your message match is strong is to write your ad CTA on a piece of paper and your landing page headline on another piece of paper underneath. Then look at your ad copy and turn the page. Does your paper click lead to a matched experience?
“Bonus comment – there is a clear narrative that ‘we’ can help ‘you’ start your own business. I like that there is a lot of focus on the ‘you’ throughout the page. We could improve this further with the usage of ‘we’ to mean both the user and ConvertKit by about halfway through the page. It is a subtle reassurance that we are here for you and the user will feel the reassurance whether they are aware of it or not.”

There are email warming sequences that include things like personalized value-driven stories, tutorials and even soft pushes to webinars, and of course product suggestions that happen over days or even weeks. The truth is that most prospects won't buy from your website at first glance, especially if they're only just becoming aware of you today. It takes time. The purpose of the transactional landing page is to persuade a visitor to take action by completing a transaction. This is accomplished by providing a form that needs to be filled out. The visitor information is obtained in order to add the visitor’s email address to a mailing list as a prospect. An email campaign can then be developed based on responses to transactional landing pages. The goal is to capture as much information about the visitor as possible. The ultimate goal is to convert the visitor into a customer.[citation needed]

I admit it, I was late to the game…not just on understanding what a sales funnel is in the marketing world, but with getting into Clickfunnels and learning to build my own. I am currently using LeadPages and was thinking of moving to Clickfunnels after my 14 day trial (depending on how it goes). It gets a bit annoying doing the integrations sometimes, especially that you have to always remember to connect the flow for things to work. That’s why so far I really appreciate the all-in-one feature that ClickFunnels have. I am also planning to sell my own products in the nearest future and really appreciate you letting us know about how to save $$$ by using ‘Funnel Hacks’
In a recent conversation I had with Perry Belcher, co-founder of Native Commerce Media, he told me that you also need to train your prospects to click on links. For example, you could have them click on a link of what interests them or link them to a blog post or eventually to a product or service that you're selling, but you need to train them to build a habit of clicking on those links from the very beginning.
Of course, regardless of how they enter into your funnel, your goal as a marketer is to move them through the multiple stages that will take them from prospect to buyer. And once they're aware of you, you need to build their interest. To do this, you need to establish a relationship with the customer. You might have enticed them with a great offer (lead magnet) to grab their email address, but actually moving them through the funnel is a far greater challenge. 
Hi Terence, first off I would like to say that an interesting and thorough review. The fact that you go into so much detail about Funnel hacks, both the pro’s and the con’s really makes me believe in it and you. It sounds like something I will definitely consider as soon as I get my own product to sell (which I am still working on at the minute). And if it works then it’s worth every penny I say.
Prospecting and marketing are all the things you do to get people into the first of your sales funnel stages. Note that stages are broken into two or more steps wherever possible. A demo could be called a single stage, but in real life it involves a lot of things: contacting the customer, sending reminders, doing the demo, and then following up. Whatever your own sales stages look like, the support you need in managing them will be the same.
