Landing pages originated with the IT departments of Microsoft in late 2003 in response to poor online sales of Office.[5] The process was tedious and time-consuming. As a result, in 2009, several startups, including Unbounce, were formed to simplify and streamline the process. The rise of cloud computing and e-commerce around 2009 provided ideal conditions for these startups to flourish.[5] Since then the customer requirements changed, requesting integrations with other solutions such as email marketing, lead nurturing and customer relationship management systems.

My research into funnels and recent experience with ClickFunnels gave me some clues. I needed five pages for my WordPress funnel. Opt-in, confirmation, thank you, quote request, and download. The first issue I ran into was that WordPress pages contain a sidebar on the right by default. If I put links there it takes this squeeze out of the squeeze page, and if I leave it blank it looks weird.
If you do an interview or guest post, you can send people directly to your landing page. It doesn’t help you as much to send people to your blog or website’s homepage. People sent directly to your homepage have too many options, may not find what they’re interested in, and more often than not, will leave. So, if you’re doing a podcast interview or guest post, it would be better to send people to a landing page where they can opt-in. Once you have someone’s email address, you’re able to communicate and build a relationship with them. It’s much different than if they simply visited your blog once, two weeks ago. You catch my drift?
The only problem is, most businesses don’t know how to talk about themselves or what they are selling in ways that matter to their potential customers. Why? Well, all businesses struggle with egocentrism. After all, you spend all day, every day thinking about and improving your product or offer. It’s natural to want to talk about all the special things that make your business unique!
ClickFunnels’ funnel builder allows you to construct a range of bespoke funnels, including opt-in funnels, product launch funnels, sales funnels, membership funnels, auto-webinars, and regular webinar funnels. Perusing a vast selection of page templates, you’ll be able to construct a funnel which meets your personal needs. As you can see, the layout is here on the right hand side, you can see the control panel or the toolbar, and all of these things, obviously, have everything to do with what's on the page here. Once you're on the page you have the settings menu, it's going to be a lot of stuff here. You don't always have to just go through these things one thing at a time, a lot of times these are going to be already preset the way you like them, but the meta tags in the social settings you always want to update. So that, for instance the social image is when you copy and paste a URL into a social media platform like Facebook and that's how picture shows up sometimes. Well, that's where that picture comes from. Then of course, up here where it says 'start here', you can see that that's what's here as well.

A good practice when managing your sales funnel in a CRM is to be consistent in updating the lead stage. As leads progress down the funnel, you must be able to analyze the number of leads by stage in order to ensure your funnel is always full to the brim with leads. It’s also important to know what stage each lead is at to know what to do next. So once the lead has been contacted, move the lead from new to contacted stage. Actually, the CRM can move it down the funnel automatically.

The funnel builder lets you produce different types of funnels with a large choice of page templates to select from. You likewise get the choice to style and add components to your pages according to your desires. The easy-to-use UI of the builder allows you to drag and drop elements which makes constructing your funnel actions a more straightforward job.
A/B testing, or A/B split testing, is a method for testing two versions of a webpage: version "A" and version "B". The goal is to test multiple versions of webpages (e.g., home page vs. product page) or one specific element that changes between variation A and variation B (such as having a lead form on the left hand side or having it placed on the right hand side), FAQ to determine which version is most appealing/effective. This testing method may also be known as A/B/n split testing; the n denoting more than 2 tests being measured and compared. The data for A/B testing is usually measured via click-through rate or an alternative conversion tracking method.[11]
Chris, thank you so very much for that. I am new to all of this and feel so overwhelmed in trying to figure out what system to use and how to put it all together. I have written 3 ebooks and have a course to go with one. One is a free give-away. I didn’t know where to start, but wanted to just do the free give-away in exchange for the emails. Later on, I thought I’d offer the course that goes with that book. What do you recommend? Do you think I should just stick with Leadpages and collect the emails and then when I’m ready to offer the course, use ClickFunnels? Can the names collected in LeadPages be integrated into ClickFunnels? I’m still trying to work this all out. Thanks for any help/guidance you can give.

In a recent conversation I had with Perry Belcher, co-founder of Native Commerce Media, he told me that you also need to train your prospects to click on links. For example, you could have them click on a link of what interests them or link them to a blog post or eventually to a product or service that you're selling, but you need to train them to build a habit of clicking on those links from the very beginning.
Robert Graves used to work in consulting but left that to pursue his copywriting and design business. During this transition from desk-job to business owner means he gets to experiment and try out many marketing tools to help grow his business. This makes him a real-life, trial and error expert. This experience has made me a trial and error expert.
But with ClickFunnels I’ve submitted 3 tickets with at least a combined 800 words of suggestions and bugs and each time was responded back in 12 hours with a name behind the computer who I can actually reach out to. They also went above and beyond telling me xxx programmer and xxx designer are working on the issue and other users have faced the same ones.

The sales process is not a straight line. This is why converting a lead to customer often takes its own course, and varies with business. Whether B2B or B2C sales, it’s important for sales reps to understand and visualize a lead’s journey; otherwise, they’re shooting in the dark. This is done by a series of steps which develops into what’s called the sales funnel—a concept that finds its way back to the 1890s.

A sales funnel reflects the prospect’s journey or path that takes them from awareness to customer. It encompasses actions you take to create this journey or experience. Pipeline stages are the stages of opportunities or deals. They reflect the sales process from the salesperson’s perspective. See our article, 8 Sales Pipeline Stages Every Sales Team Should Have.

You gain the prospects interest through an email sequence. You begin to relate stories to them that tie into who you are and how you've arrived to this point in your life. Brunson, in his book, Expert Secrets, calls this the Attractive Character. Are you the reluctant hero whose journey happened almost by mistake, but you feel like you owe it to yourself and the world to convey something of great value?

A sales funnel illustrates your customer’s journey and works by increasing the level of engagement and trust in each interaction with your prospect. It typically contains six stages, starting with awareness and ending with loyal customers. Each stage has more meaningful activities than the last. While not all prospects will reach the end of the funnel, those who do are actively engaged and therefore more serious about buying your product or service.
In fact, by the time a potential customer actually reaches out to a person in your organization, 70% of the decision-making process will already have taken place. That really depends on what you want to accomplish. If you want a basic site, you could upload a theme, or use your hosting company’s theme builder and get online but that doesn’t mean you’ll get what you want necessarily. WordPress itself is a basic, open-sourced software tool that really does nothing. It will take a bit of know-how and expertise to learn how to use, but if you are above-average tech savvy (or learn things quickly), you can figure out how to get online.
Imagine an autoresponder that doesn't just send emails, but allows you to track which channels your visitors are coming from, segment them based on actions they take and who they are (what they do in your funnels, how socially connected they are, what they purchase and more!), create custom follow up sequences (email, text messages and more!) for each visitor and FINALLY see the TRUE Lifetime Value of each of your customers!
Thanks Matt, the client attraction stage is the big thing. With relatively low client numbers I’m able nurture and provide relevant & specific information. I look arrange phone or in person meetings. So attracting clients who can identify with a specific or range of personal (to them) challenges which I’m able to demonstrate I can solve is perhaps the primary focus for me at the prospect acquisition point. I hope that makes sense:)
