Creating my first Clickfunnel, which was a Video Sales Page with an upsell, downsell, and offer wall (arguably one of the more complex funnels) took me a good 6–8 weeks…that was with working on it a little every day, and having lots of back and forth with their awesome support team. It also probably took me longer because I got impatient (which Russell Brunson says happens with most entrepreneurs) and ditched his admittedly fun and useful Clickfunnels game (their training tool) to just start building.

Cons: My dislikes are more nit picky than complaints; setup of URLs can involve 2 separate screens, which makes it a little confusing at first. It is template driven and some of these are very Internet Marketing centric, so the look and style may not be a fit, but of course you can adapt and make these your own. A broader selection of templates will help, but they do have a community of developers adding to it daily, so this is likely a short term problem.


Are easy to scan at a quick glance. It’s absolutely vital that you visitors can capture the essence of your offer with a quick glance. It’s estimated that you have about 8 seconds to convince users to stay on your page, so value proposition needs to be quick and convincing. When building a landing page, make it easy to scan by highlighting your main point in the headline while using sub headings and bullet points for added info. Use fonts and colors to indicate information hierarchy. As Jakob Nielsen notes, your page visitors are wild, frantic animals looking for a quick meal, so serve it up fast!

At the end of the day, Clickfunnels is kinda like Sales Funnels for Dummies (not literally dummies, hopefully you’re all picking up my reference here). You don’t have to hire anyone to create one for you (though you certainly can) and you don’t have to be tech-savvy — you just start with one of their pre-created free templates, and then it’s drag and drop from there. Easy-peasy.

Pros: Let's face it, funnels are the way to go to assist a customer in a purchase decision. Click Funnels is a easy to use and well put together platform. Their training sequence is fun and effective. They do an excellent job at making you feel a part of a club. I was on the trial offer and did not opt for a paid plan and I will elaborate below. Does this funnel system work- yes. Can a beginner do well with the CF software- maybe. Do they deliver the product they sell and provide appropriate support, absolutely. Is it worth per month? That is for you to decide but for me it was a no. Here is why-

Simply envision all the cash you get to save on Web Designers, Web Developers, Email Automation Software, Affiliate Management Software, Landing Page Software Application, and more if you utilize ClickFunnels. This is one of my favorite things about LeadPages. For most people, designing a lead magnet landing page on their website is difficult because then you’d have to mess with the coding on your site and could potentially break something. LeadPages makes it mega easy. They have about a zillion different templates you can customize to create landing page opt-in forms, like this one:
Depending on what you’re selling and who you’re marketing to, you might answer that question in a number of different ways. For example, if bug-free software is a big deal to your potential customers, you may want to focus on how fine-tuned your software is. You might want to include a section about your support team, how many users you have, how you handle errors…you get the idea.

Landing pages, on the other hand, are perfectly suited to content that’s shorter. They also have the advantage of only having to load once, which can be a big consideration for companies targeting people in rural areas or developing nations, where bandwidth and connection speeds could be an issue. The downside to landing pages is that they can get overwhelming with a lot of content, and can come across as spammy if not well-designed.

Re your question: yes, it makes sense to follow-up as often as you need to to reach the decision-maker. At the early stage of cold calling / emailing / SMS you may have to follow-up 6-12 times with a combination of cold calls and cold emails before you get to kick-started with your prospective customer. Obviously if they unsubscribe or say no then you have to respect this. At later stages, non-response would indicate that your prospective customer no longer sees (or has doubts) about the potential value of the solution you are selling. After following-up 2 times at a later stage, I would make it easy for your prospect to voice their concerns by communicating something like: “I’m struggling to reach you, perhaps we could hop on a call for 5 minutes as I’d like to understand your current thoughts rather than assume you are no longer interested in progressing.”

Only ask for the information they need. The more fields you ask visitors to fill out in your form, the less chance you have of them completing your offer. If your conversion requires a form, get the bare minimum of what you need – you can always ask for more info on the thank you page once the deed is done. While most users don’t have a problem providing their name and email address, asking for info about phone numbers and date of birth can cause your drop off rate to skyrocket to 50%. The rule of thumb is not to include more than seven fields in your lead gen form on your landing page.

I’m using both Leadpages and Clickfunnels. I really like click funnel because I can create the entire funnel including one time offers and the really nice order form. One thing I’m really struggling with is that there membership function is so basic it’s almost unusable for me, and there’s no way to integrate with a more sophisticated membership site plug-in or system.

Thanks Matt, yes that’s right. Regarding leads it’s both really! I certainly want to generate more of the right niche/ quality prospects. In short there are 2 distinctly areas; general enquiries which I have a good process for ( but could be improved) the biggest challenge is taking colder leads through the funnel. The sales process can sometimes be quite long, so whilst a well placed offer can work to get someone over line. It’s not very strong for those who are researching etc, hence I need advice about funnel building for regular front of mind contact plus education and industry authority. Does that make sense?
